Three (3) regulatory inspectors from the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) and a representative of Boaz Integrated Energy and Allied Services visited BOG facility to inspect BOG’s radioactive source bunker to be used by Boaz for the storage of her radioactive sources prior to granting the said company licenses. Boaz is an indigenous oil and gas servicing company that specializes in well logging. The company has a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to use BOG’s radioactive source bunker for storing of her Americium/Beryllium sources.
BOG’s radio active sources are Americium 241 with ionized energy level of 59.5kev and half-life of 433 years. They are utilized in Multi Phase Flow Meters (MPFMs) to measure the mass absorption coefficient of water, oil and gas without separating the effluent.
