Dr. Kayode Thomas, CEO Bell Oil & Gas (BOG) had the distinct honour of attending the Pacelli School for the Blind and Partially Sighted for their much-anticipated Inter-House Sports Competition. As the proud patron of Yellow House, he was deeply moved by the resilience, enthusiasm, and determination displayed by the students. This event, the first in a long time, was a delightful and heartwarming experience, highlighting the incredible strength and sportsmanship of children with disabilities.

Founded in 1962, Pacelli School for the Blind and Partially Sighted is a renowned institution dedicated to providing quality education and rehabilitation for visually impaired children in Nigeria. Located in Lagos, the school offers a nurturing environment where students are equipped with essential skills to overcome challenges, achieve independence, and realize their full potential. Through its academic programs, vocational training, and extracurricular activities, Pacelli School continues to be a beacon of hope and empowerment for visually impaired children across the country.
The competition saw students participating in a variety of sporting activities, including the 100m and 200m races, the relay race, sack race, high jump, swimming, and the ever-spirited march past. It was truly inspiring to witness these remarkable children, undeterred by their visual impairments, competing with unwavering energy and sheer willpower. Their performances were nothing short of extraordinary, proving that physical limitations are no match for determination and passion.

The principal of the school, Sister Agnes Chinyere, was elated to be holding this edition of the Inter-House Sports as it marked a significant return after a long hiatus. She expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the presence and unwavering support of the patrons of the various houses, emphasising that there is indeed ability in disability, her words resonated with all in attendance, reminding everyone of the impact such encouragement has on the confidence and morale of the children”
