Bell Oil & Gas participated in a high-level Kick-Off and Pre-Production meeting for the Bonga North (Tranche 1) Project’s EPC-2 UFRI Package in China. The visit, which took place from February 6th to 12th, 2025, saw BOG’s General Manager, Business Development & Supply Chain, Mrs. Yemi Gbeja, alongside a multinational delegation from Shell Nigeria Exploration & Production Company (SNEPCo), Saipem, and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), engage with key suppliers on the project to ensure the seamless execution of this critical deepwater project.
The Bonga North project is a subsea tie-back development to the Bonga Main FPSO located in Nigeria’s Gulf of Guinea. It will consist of 9 production and 8 injection wells across multiple reservoirs, requiring extensive engineering, procurement, and fabrication efforts.

Strategic Supplier Engagements
During the visit, the delegation held extensive discussions with Zhejiang Jiuli Hitech Metals Co. (Jiuli), Nanjing Iron & Steel Co. (NISCO), and its subsidiary, Anhui Gold Element Composites Co. These companies are responsible for manufacturing and supplying Hot Rolled Bonded (HRB) Fatigue Sensitive Clad Pipes, a critical component for Bonga North’s subsea production risers. The meetings covered production timelines, material quality, and compliance with international standards.
BOG secured a multi-million dollar purchase order for the manufacturing and supply of 12-inch HRB clad pipes. These pipes, designed for fatigue-sensitive applications in deepwater production, will be pivotal to the project’s long-term success.
BOG’s engagement with Jiuli and NISCO reinforced confidence in the suppliers’ capabilities, with factory tours showcasing manufacturing facilities and processes.

Key Outcomes & Industry Impact
One of the most significant aspects of this visit was the rigorous qualification process for Jiuli’s HRB pipes. Shell has historically sourced these pipes from limited suppliers, and if Jiuli successfully meets the required fatigue tests, this development will mark a major milestone in the industry.
BOG’s proactive role in coordinating these efforts positions the company as a strategic partner in advancing local content in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
At the conclusion of the visit, Shell and NNPC representatives expressed confidence in Jiuli’s and NISCO’s ability to deliver high-quality materials while meeting project deadlines. Discussions also extended to potential collaborations on future projects, reinforcing BOG’s role in driving innovation and efficiency in the sector.
This strategic engagement shows BOG’s continued commitment to delivering value-driven solutions in the oil and gas industry. As the company strengthens its position on major projects like Bonga North, it remains dedicated to upholding the highest standards of quality, innovation, and Nigerian content development.
