As a way of supporting our customer, a team of BOG surface protecting experts were at Shell Facility, Bonny River Terminal, Rivers State, to carry out painting / coating on 7 defective 12 inches BAC valves. The job involved blasting and painting of two of the valves while the others were cleaned with sandpaper and recoated using self-priming intertherm 228 coating system as approved by our technical partner, BAC valves.
This job lasted for 14 days, (between 10th and 24th November 2017) and it also created an avenue for BOG to create awareness on our capability in surface protection and other services as well as build stronger relationship with Shell facility engineers at Bonny River Terminal. The job was supervised and endorsed by Shell representatives at site.
Shell needed the valves re-coated to enable it proceed with the installation of a metering skid. The intervention was very critical to Shell’s Metering Skid Project. If the valves were not re-coated and the metering skid was put to use, failed coatings could lead to valve failure which would affect smooth operation at the Bonny River Terminal.
