My name is Felix Obiaka, and I joined BOG on 4th of October, 2005.
Tell us about what you felt when you got your offer letter.
A new chapter opened in my life. As a fresh graduate, securing such a practical Job has always been my desire, to practice what I studied, was overwhelmed.
What project, moment, or achievement are you most proud of?
My first time leading teams to the Field – When the client was asking if we were expecting another supervisor? And the answer I gave them.
What are the most important lessons you’ve learned at BOG?
Never despise the days of small beginnings. Every great journey starts somewhere, and growth is a constant process when you stay focused and committed. Those early steps, no matter how modest, lay the foundation for bigger achievements. Patience, perseverance, and dedication during the early stages are what ultimately shape long-term success.
How has working at BOG shaped your career and personal development?
My journey with BOG has been enriching, allowing me to grow both professionally and in knowledge.
Did you think you would be here for 20 years when you first started?
Honestly, I didn’t expect to be here this long. My plan was to gain some experience, save up, and then go abroad to study.
Have you had any mentors or colleagues who made a lasting impact on you? Tell us about them.
I’ve been fortunate to work with both past and present colleagues who have made a lasting impact on me. Their guidance, support, and example have helped shape the person and professional I am today. The mentorship initiative introduced by BOG has also been incredibly valuable. I am also a certified trainer with National Oil Varco (NOV), and through the opportunities BOG has given me, I’ve been able to train numerous technicians both within Nigeria and internationally. Overall, BOG has played a major role in shaping the professional I am today.
What has kept you motivated and committed for two decades?
The future I see in BOG has been a major source of my motivation and commitment over the past two decades. The calibre of our directors and their clear vision of where the company is headed gives me confidence and keeps me driven. Their leadership and direction make it easy to stay focused, dedicated, and proud to be part of the organisation’s journey.
What does the BOG culture mean to you?
To me, BOG’s culture is a standard of excellence, something you can carry with you anywhere. It shapes how we work, how we show up, and how we contribute to every major milestone.
Which of the core values resonates most with you and why?
The core values that resonate most with me are Team Spirit, Customer Focus, Idea Sharing, and Resilience. Striving to be the best in everything I do also guides my daily work.
These values are not just words to me—they are the driving forces behind how I approach my job and contribute to BOG.
If you could go back in time, what advice would you give your younger self at the start of your BOG journey?
I would tell my younger self to take the same path again without hesitation. Every step has been worth it.
Looking back, what are you most grateful for in your 20-year journey with BOG?
Looking back, I am most grateful for the opportunities BOG has given me, including the freedom to move across different departments whenever the need arises. This flexibility has allowed me to grow, learn, and gain a broad perspective of the business.

I would like to be remembered for my excellent work and my time at BOG—known for being diligent, careful, and always eager to learn everything I could.
