Jude Okafor, a Senior Field Service Engineer – Well Testing, clocked ten years in the services of BOG within the quarter. He reflects on how he has fared in BOG in the last ten years. Excerpts:
I joined Bell Oil and Gas in 2014 as a Field Service Engineer in the Well Testing Unit.
I have worked under so many managers in the course of operations, and they have in one way or the other impacted positively on the knowledge I gathered in the course of my service to Bell Oil and Gas (BOG).
Simply put, BOG is a cycle of learning and unlearning. In BOG you must keep on learning, unlearning, and re-learning in order to continually deliver effective services. This is good for preparing anyone for tomorrow.
I was sponsored for a training on Haimo Software Data Acquisition, Multiphase Flow Meter (MPFM) Operating Training Course, in 2014 in Dubai. Haimo Technologies Group Corporation is a multinational company engaged in oilfield equipment manufacturing, oilfield technical services and unconventional oil and gas exploration and development. Its MPFM has gained popularity in unconventional oil and gas exploration and development. Also, BOG sponsored my training on International Well Control Forum (IWCF) Level 4 in 2019. I have since become a member of the body.
On personal development, I have obtained a diploma in multi-phase metering (NFOGM & TEKENA) and I am also a member of the International Vocational Education and Training Association (IVETA).
I cannot but over-emphasize the tutelage from my mentor, Mr. Ebi Dike, BOG’s Operations Manager. His tutelage has helped me in achieving my personal developmental goals. With a background in conventional well testing, crossing over from conventional well testing approach in measurement to multi-phase measurement has given me a broader spectrum in the field of well testing.
I was promoted to a Senior Field Service Engineer in 2018 overseeing the activities of well testing in BOG. I want to use this medium to say a big shout out to the Directors of this wonderful company for doing a great job. May God bless you all and may God bless BOG.
