BOG QHSE Team with Rivers State Health & Safety Officials
Environmental Health Officials from the Environmental Health & Safety Department of the Rivers State Ministry of Environment led by an Asst. Director, Patience Obuzor, visited the Bell Oil & Gas Port Harcourt office on 13th February for the first quarter industrial sanitation and safety inspection.
The aim was to verify the level of BOG’s compliance with environmental health and safety regulations, and more importantly, confirm how well the health of workers were being safeguarded.
The team inspected pest/vector control, industrial hygiene and water sanitation processes. Members went through various documentations using a checklist which covered areas such as organizational basic information, structure, culture, services, major chemical/equipment in use, types of waste generated, method of waste collection and disposal, staff health facilities and surveillance, implementation of health and safety management system, source of water supply and treatment, pest and rodent control, compliance with waste management laws, proof of registration of agent and fumigation certificate for the quarter, sanitation and potable water analysis, among others.
The BOG premises was certified fit. The officers also commended Bell Oil & Gas for always creditably meeting the expectations of the Rivers State Ministry of Environmental Health and Safety.
