Constance Orji – QA/QC Officer, Valve Asset Management

Can you tell us about yourself and your role at BOG?
My name is Orji Constance Chinemerem, and I am the Quality Control and Quality Assurance Officer at Bell Oil & Gas for the Valve Asset Management Plant. My role involves managing all documentation for our clients’ properties from reception through final delivery. I ensure conformity, traceability, and on-time delivery while aligning every process with international, national, and customer-specific standards. My focus is simple: delivering reliable, compliant, well-documented products that stand the test of time.
What has been your most memorable project or achievement here?
One of my most memorable achievements has been contributing to the successful API audit and certification of Bell Oil & Gas Pipe Threading and Valve Asset Management Plant. We are now API Spec Q1, 5B, 7-2, ISO 9001:2015 certified, and being part of the team that achieved this milestone has been gratifying. Another memorable highlight for me is seeing valves that arrive in poor condition fully repaired, tested, and restored to service. Knowing I contributed to that transformation.
What do you love most about working at BOG?
What I love most about working at Bell Oil & Gas is the firsthand proof that Nigerian companies truly have the capacity to deliver world-class projects. Our Valve Department consistently manages client assets with precision and integrity, and I’m privileged to work with a phenomenal team. The management is deeply committed to maintaining standards, being a reference point and that environment fuels excellence.
What’s your strategy for staying motivated during challenging times?
My motivation comes from remembering why I started. I always begin with the end in mind, because the reward at the end of the journey is worth the effort along the way. Challenges don’t discourage me; they remind me that every process has a purpose. As long as I keep the bigger picture in focus, staying motivated can become natural.
If you could switch roles with someone in the company for a day, who would it be and why?
If I could switch roles with anyone for a day, it would be our CEO, Dr Kayode Thomas. I deeply admire how he leads with clarity, foresight, and structure. His application of the principles from The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is evident in how he handles challenges and steers the company. I would love to experience how he analyses situations, prepares ahead, and makes strategic decisions. I believe battles are prepared before, not in the battlefield and he exemplifies that daily.

What is one thing about your job that you wish more people understood?
I wish more people understood how powerful proper documentation is. Documentation outlives projects, people, and even generations. It’s the legacy we leave behind. Precision matters because those records will guide others years from now, just like we rely on OEM manuals written decades ago in languages like Italian, Spanish, etc. When documentation is valued and understood, work becomes clearer, traceable, and future-proof.
What advice would you give to someone new starting at BOG?
Don’t lose your zeal. Stay prepared, I mean “whet the edge”. Challenging days will come, but your preparedness will carry you. And finally, celebrate your wins, even the small ones. They fuel you for the bigger victories ahead.
What qualities do you value most in a team member?
The quality I value most is team spirit. We can have vision and strategy, but without collaboration, execution will always suffer. A team member who shows commitment, cooperation, and a positive attitude contributes more than they may ever realise. Team spirit gets the job done and gets it done well.
What do you love most about working at BOG?
A fun fact about me is that I genuinely enjoy a good party. I love moments where people unwind, celebrate life, and connect. It’s my little reminder that joy is part of the journey, too.
What’s a fun fact about you that most people don’t know?
Thinking about the future of my career fills me with joy. As I embrace God’s plans and direction, I’m excited about the impact I’ll make in the quality field.
