In a bid to extend the frontiers of BOG’s technical capacity deployment as regards Turbo Machinery and Compression Systems, members of BOG’s Rotating Equipment Team including Senior Rotating Equipment Manager, Yinka Adetuberu, and Assistant Field Service Engineer, Progress Amadi, visited Azura Power Plant in Edo State.
The Azura-Edo Independent Power Project (IPP) is a 461 megawatts Open Cycle Gas Turbine Power Station being constructed near Benin City in Edo State. It is the first phase of a 1,500MW IPP facility located on a 100-hectare site, large enough to accommodate future expansions of the power plant. This is Nigeria’s first large-scale project-financed IPP, developed by Azura Power Holdings.
During the visit, BOG representatives were taken on a tour of the facility after a presentation on the company’s capabilities. The Azura Team were impressed with BOG capabilities, especially in the areas of turbo machinery and compression systems.
The first phase of the Azura Power Plant has since been completed and power generated from the power plant has been added to the National Grid.
BOG will continue to support the development and sustenance of critical infrastructures in the energy sector.
