BOG team members with participants at the workshop in Lagos
With its commitment to local content development in Nigeria, BOG in collaboration with NOV Fiberglass Systems (NOV-FGS) organized two workshops in Lagos and Port Harcourt on October 8th and November 12th respectively. The “Lunch and Learn” workshops, first of its kind in the country informed end-users comprising Project, Design, Piping and Construction Engineers, Government Agencies and Regulators on the various products manufactured by NOVFGS and their applications in Engineering, Marginal Field and Upstream Operations. The workshops also highlighted the competitive advantages composite pipes have over traditional steel pipes. Presentations were two-fold. The first highlighted the best-in-class products and services rendered by BOG. The other which was delivered by Paulinus Nsek, the Area Sales Manager (West Africa) for NOV-FGS, focused on the value and operational savings composite pipes offer. NOV Fiberglass Systems products cover NOV Fiberspar Spoolable Pipes, Rigid Glassfiber Reinforced Epoxy Pipes, Phenolic Fiber Reinforced Plastic – Handrails, Gratings, Ladders, Safety Cage etc Composite Fittings and so on.

These product offerings are designed to curtail the corrosion challenges faced by conventional steel materials. It is worthy of note that composite pipes have been approved for both water and hydrocarbon applications by the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR). The workshop was an interactive one. Participants had lively discussions with BOG staff members and NOV Fiberglass Systems representatives.
