What the OEM does and where they are based
Emerson Automation Solutions (Vonk Chokes) is a leading global manufacturer and supplier of flow management solutions – heavy duty and high integrity choke valves used in the oil and gas industry. Other application areas include mining and power, petrochemical and gas storage systems.
Having evolved from different organizations, Vonk became a member of Emerson Process Management, a big name in the valves and automation sector of the Oil and Gas industry in September 2017. Vonk is in Hengelo, the Netherlands, from where it services a pool of clients globally.
Our relationship with Vonk
Bell Oil and Gas (BOG) has been a representative of Vonk Chokes since 2013, a relationship it has maintained till date, in-spite of Vonk Choke’s evolution from various organizations that has landed it to becoming a member of Emerson Group. The relationship has fared well over 5 years.
The benefit of the relationship to us and the OEM
This relationship has been a mutually-beneficial one. Vonk and BOG leverage on competitive advantages. Among other benefits of the relationship are: quick response to requests from our clients, quality assurance, and technical support through us to our clients.
Products and services
Vonk product range in terms of the trim design includes the disc type, the plug & seat type and the cage type. In terms of the configuration and sizes, it could be any of the following:
Angle Type (CHV) – body size of up to 8” with Cv values up to 1030, Pressure Ratings (ASME 150# to 4500#, API 3000 psi to 20000 psi), end connection up to 16”.
In-Line Type (YCV) – body size of up to 4” with Cv values up to 225, Pressure Ratings (ASME 150# to 4500#, API 2000 psi to 15000 psi), end connection up to 8”.
In-Line Type (ICV) – body size of up to 2” with Cv value up to 45, Pressure Ratings (ASME 150# to 2500#, API 3000 psi to 10000 psi), end connection up to 4”.
Latest innovations
Worthy of mention is the most recent type borne out of Vonk’s research and development activities – the Standard Choke Valve. It has the following characteristics among others: forged body material AISI 4130, disc type technology, body sizes 1”, 2” and 3”, pressure ratings (ASME 150# to 2500#, API 2000 psi to 5000 psi), end connections up to 1”, 2”, 3”, 4” and 6”, API 2 1/16”, 3 1/8”, 4 1/16” and 7 1/16”. It has a very competitive pricing and short lead time.
How the OEM adjusts its processes and products to respond to prevalent circumstances
Over the years, Vonk Choke has always responded promptly with solutions to the challenges of the clients in Nigeria with BOG’s collaboration (their Nigeria Channel Partner). In a bid to maintain response time, Vonk developed the Standard Choke Valve. It has a very competitive pricing and very short lead time.
Standards and quality
Vonk Chokes complies with the required standards and certifications to be a player in the Oil and Gas and other engineering related industries. These standards include but are not limited to:
ISO 9001:2008, PED-97-23-EC, ATEX, API 6A, API 6FA, CU TR, SHE-VCA, CRN.
Vonk also complies with the necessary inspection practices that are required to certify the authenticity and standard of raw materials and manufactured products prior to release for use by clients.
New technology and applications
Vonk Choke has kept improving the quality and toughness of its products, hence the products have been applied in some severe solutions that their counterparts find very difficult, such as in high pressure drops and contamination with either sand or Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S). Thus, Vonk Choke has been replacing other choke valves from other manufacturers in the industry.
