OFON field is located in block OML 102, approximately 45 kilometres of the South-Eastern coast of Nigeria. This is of approximately 40 metres water depth. The field is owned by the joint venture of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and Total E & P Nigeria (NNPC/TEPNG) and is operated by TEPNG. Existing installations on the OFON field is the OFON Phase 1 which comprises OFP1, OFD1 and OFD2 platforms.

The concern of stopping gas flaring, delivering gas to Bonny LNG, increasing production and improving operation conditions, brought about OFON Phase 2. This phase comprises two new wellhead platforms – OFD3 and OFD5- located 5km north and 5km south from the central complex respectively.

Niger Dock Nigeria Limited started the building of OFON Phase 2. It was later handed over to Ponticelli Nigeria Ltd (PNL) for the hookup of the platform Offshore. PNL sub-contracted the Glass Fibre Reinforced Epoxy (GRE) pipes hookup installation to BOG.

On Monday, 12th of September 2016, seven (7) BOG GRE personnel were mobilized to OFON 2 – OFD5 Platform for the GRE hookup installation. They went through the necessary safety/security induction and work commenced immediately.

The scope involved the hook up of 2 inches, 4 inches and 6 inches Glass Fibre Reinforced Epoxy (GRE) lines on OFD5. The execution of the project was done in-line with NOV Fiberglass System’s (BOG’s technical partner for GRE) Bonding Procedure and in line with the approved hookup drawings received from PNL. One hundred and eight dia inches were done and a total of thirteen days was spent on the project. The first phase of the project was completed on schedule.

The second phase began with the mobilisation of 5 BOG personnel to OFON 2 – OFD 3 Platform for the GRE hookup installation on November 23, 2016.

The scope involved the hook up of 2 inches, 4 inches and 6 inches GRE line on OFD3. It was com­pleted on Wednesday, December 7, 2016.Both phases were completed successfully. A hydro test was carried out by the client on the hook-up line for both phases, to ascertain that it was properly done and the lines passed the test.
