In March 2019, BOG received Milton Roy’s Sales Manager for Sub Saharan Africa, Water Treatment Divison, Sivuyile Pezulu, in both Lagos and Port Harcourt offices. Milton Roy (MR) is part of the Accudyne Industries which is made up of Milton Roy, Sundyne and Sulliar. Accudyne Industries is comprised of widely known specialty product brands that serve global customers who use safely handled fluids in upstream and midstream oil and gas production; hydrocarbon processing including refining and petrochemical production; chemical processing; water and wastewater treatment applications; power generation and manufacturing. Accudyne Industries has its head office in Dallas, USA.
BOG and Milton Roy have a channel partner distributorship agreement which makes BOG the sole representative of Milton Roy products and brands in the Nigerian Oil and Gas sector. Milton Roy is one of the most reliable manufacturers of metering/dosing pumps, chemical injection skids and mixers. BOG is the exclusive representative of Milton Roy Europe (MRE) in Nigeria. The metering/dosing pumps and chemical injection skids combine flow and pressure parameters to inject precise quantity/volume of chemicals in a process at certain intervals. This injection need arises because of the desire for performance and continuity in these processes. Typical applications of these pumps are in petrochemical, water treatment and oil and gas industries.
With the intent to participate in opportunities in the general industries alongside the Oil and Gas industry, Sivuyile (Milton Roy’s Sales Manager) visited Nigeria to pitch the company’s products to generate more business. A joint client visit was made to SGS Nigeria and the Lagos Water Corporation (LWC), after which trainings were conducted for members of BOG’s Business Development Teams in Lagos and Port Harcourt offices and the Rotating Equipment Team in Port Harcourt.
The visit to LWC was of great importance as we were informed that the corporation has about 47 plants in operation, each with 50 pumps installed on it. This represents a good opportunity for Milton Roy and BOG, especially in procurement and change of spares.
During the visit to SGS Nigeria (a third-party inspection company to Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) companies), opportunities in new water treatment plants were identified. Though Milton Roy does not build complete water treatment plants, it has relationships with companies that do and in return, provide dosing pumps used in such plants. In Port Harcourt, there was a joint client visit to Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals Limited (IEPL).
During the training with the Business Development and Rotating Equipment Teams, Sivuyile took the participants through Milton Roy products which includes;
• Solenoid driven chemical metering pumps.
• Proteus (the intelligent metering pump).
• Controllers.
• Global Mroy Series metering pumps (Used to inject directly).
• MAXROY (Mainly for power generation).
• DOSATRON Water powered proportional pumps.
• POLYPACK polymer preparation units.
• DOASPACK Reagent Preparation units (Swimming Pools and Bore Holes).
He also took the participants through the process of pump selection and pricing. He emphasized four parameters that should be considered when engaging clients as follows:
• Chemical Flow Rate (l/hr)
• Pressure (Bar)
• Liquid Type
• Control
The training was very fruitful as it has created a good avenue for BOG to generate more business and serve our clients better.
