In compliance with the requirements of the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) to designate, train and refresh radiation safety officers on radiation safety and protection programmes by organizations handling ionizing radiation sources in one way or the other in Nigeria, BOG’s Radiation Safety Officer (RSO), Sunday Oladoja, participated in a 5-day training held at the Conference Centre of the University of Ibadan, Oyo State between 22nd and 26th October 2018.
The course is one of the pre-requisites for RSO accreditation by the NNRA. It was organised by the NNRA in collaboration with the National Institute of Radiation Protection and Research (NIRPR), the technical support arm of the NNRA in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Vienna, Austria. Its focus is on the technical and administrative framework necessary for protection against ionizing radiation and safety of radiation sources in the Oil and Gas Industry.
